Why wait? Get your career started today

Here's the details about signing up for our Truck Driving program.

Complete the Commercial Driver's License Pre-Screening Survey and once we verify that you qualify, we'll reach out through email with more information and a link to the program application.

Get a DOT physical before taking your Commercial Learner's Permit test, and be prepared to provide that documentation to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Call Alltest at 563-326-5855 to schedule your physical. You will need to pay for the cost of the DOT physical, which starts at $85, unless you are working with an agency that will pay it for you.

Alltest is located at 4711 N. Brady St., #3 (Walnut Center).

After you get your DOT physical, test for your learner’s permit at the DMV. Take the General Knowledge, Combinations, and Air Brakes tests. Pass and pay $12* for your permit.

To prepare for the test, use these helpful resources**:

* Price of permit varies by state

** These study guides are for the state of Iowa, please check with your local DMV for your state's study guides.

After you pass the CLP, request a Certified Abstract of Driving Record, cost varies by state. It shows that you have a valid CLP, a medical card, and driver's license.

You must provide the results from your DOT physical at the DMV to obtain your driving abstract.

Submit documentation showing you completed the test and your Certified Abstract of Driving Record to the EICC truck driving program manager for review.

Speak with the CDL department for registration instructions and Drug Screen Testing information.

Drug Screening

Before starting class, schedule a DOT pre-employment drug screen with Alltest. The test must be done, and results received within seven working days of the start of class. The screening costs start at $65. On the first day of class, EICC staff will show you how to sign up for the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse to see your results for your driver file.

Classes begin every few weeks throughout the year, see all upcoming start dates here.

Complete the Commercial Driver's License Pre-Screening Survey and once we verify that you qualify, we'll reach out through email with more information and a link to the program application.

If a training provider is paying your $5,700 tuition, they will assist you with registration.  If you are paying for the program register by phone at 563-441-4217.
