EICC Chancellor

Bryan Renfro

Dr. Renfro stepped into the role of Chancellor in July 2025. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education leadership, instruction, and workforce development, he carries a servant-leader mindset and deep respect for the students, faculty, and staff who make EICC an exceptional place to learn and work.

From his first days on campus, Dr. Renfro has expressed admiration for the dedication, talent, and collaborative spirit of EICC’s faculty and staff. He views his role as part of the team, working side by side to support students, strengthen programs, and build on EICC’s legacy of success. He puts energy and passion into his work, grounded in a belief that community colleges are uniquely positioned to transform lives and strengthen communities.

Dr. Renfro believes student success is not a one-size-fits-all concept. He is committed to meeting students where they are—academically, personally, and financially—and ensuring they have the tools, resources, and support to achieve their goals. He is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, flexible, and student-centered environment where individuals can grow, overcome challenges, and build meaningful futures.

Before joining EICC, Dr. Renfro served as President of John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois. His leadership has included roles such as Vice President of Academic Instruction at Paris Junior College (TX), Associate Vice Provost of Academic and Workforce Affairs at Tyler Junior College (TX), and Dean of Business and Public Services at Hawkeye Community College (IA). He has also held leadership roles at Colorado Mountain College, Tarrant County College District, Eastern Kentucky University, and NorthWest Arkansas Community College.

In addition to administrative leadership, Dr. Renfro has remained active in the classroom, teaching courses in anthropology and criminal justice. He holds a PhD in Higher Education with an emphasis in Community College Leadership from Iowa State University, a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Arkansas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee.

Originally from Kingston, Tennessee, Dr. Renfro is proud to serve Eastern Iowa’s students and communities. His focus is advancing EICC’s mission through high-quality academic programs, strong student support, innovative workforce development, and robust partnerships, always with students at the center of every decision.

Chancellor's Senior Leadership Team

The Chancellor's Senior Leadership Team functions as a strong team, working collaboratively and creatively to meet the learning needs of our diverse community. The Senior Leadership Team meets regularly to engage in district-wide strategic plan and decision-making and to coordinate the plans and actions of the district’s colleges, satellite sites and departments. Our goal as a team is to provide the best possible learning and development opportunities for the students and communities we serve.
